Yeah – I get asked that a lot. Wish I knew, cause’ I hear she’s quite the snarky, ravishingly beautiful and uniquely eccentric walking human encyclopedia. In fact, I heard someone refer to her as “Fike-o-pedia” (hope she doesn’t get sued for the name likeness!). Someone like that sure would come in handy in my life right about now!
I also hear that she’s a wicked awesome chef, loves to squeeze fat baby’s cheeks and thighs, and wishes that they could make a mold of Jemaine Clement’s lips (you know – the dorky hot dude from Flight of the Conchords) - she kinda has a “thing” for them. I also heard through the rumor mill that she moonlights at night as a jazzy lounge singer at this funky little joint known as “Her Car.” Never heard of the place – but I’m gonna go google it!
As eclectic as she does sound – kinda like the chic from Train’s song, “Meet Virginia” – I also hear that she’s a bit unfocused – unsure of what she REALLY wants to do with her life – unlike the rest of the human race. For that reason alone, I’d be wary of how much time you invest in getting to know her as she might lead you down some winding, crooked, unconventional path full of mishaps, un-adventures (or adventures) full of risk and irrational reasoning (is that an oxymoron? irrational and reason in the same sentence? dunno!).
BUT, since she is a bucket full of knowledge, I might suggest hitting her up on one of those days when you need some random fact – like say, “did you know that the blues guitarist Jonny Lang is from Fargo, North Dakota? Who’d thunk anything bluesy would come out of FAIIIRGO?” And lastly, I hear she does a pretty SPOT ON impersonation of some funny dude who poses as a singer and posts videos of himself on youtube, babbling on and on in an incoherent Spanish accent about holidays like “Balemtimes Day.” Must have been the influence of all those years growing up around Mexicans in South Texas. Oh yeah – did I mention I hear she’s very very multi-cultural…it’s in her genes….or so her mom suspects.
So yeah – that’s about all I know ABOUT her. I hear some folks think her name – Christy Fike – sounds like a name that should be on a byline or on the cover of some book she might write someday.

When you mention South Texas, would that be in Lyford?

I have read some of what you have wrote. Your thoughts on hoarding, I too hoard. I hoard money, to me that is not a big thing, The most important thing I hoard are my feelings, and my thoughts. You may not be the Christy Fike that I was looking for, but in true nature the onw thing I was looking for. Even if it dosen’t matter, I loved my first grade teacher Mrs. Russell.

Kristi! Yes – you found the right “christy fike”! Went to elementary school with you – I can picture your face now! Mrs. Russell is my grandma and she’s still living in the Dallas area. She’s been ill and bed ridden for some years now, but still as sharp as a tack. I’ll have to tell her I found you on here! And thanks for sharing your thoughts!
